Seattle Chapter IAAP® Committees

Arrangements Committee

Chairperson: 

The arrangements committee shall make all physical arrangements for regular chapter meetings, including menu planning and the collection of dinner fees.

 


Audit Committee

Chairperson: 

The audit committee is responsible for auditing the books and financial records of the Chapter in accordance with our Bylaws in  Article IX.

 


Education Committee

Chairperson/Study Group Facilitator:  Nancy Kincl, CAP aliceart52@frontier.com
The education committee Promotes professional development within the Chapter membership.  Prove you are a professional level administrative assistant by attaining your CAP ratings. These are nationally recognized certifications offering 'proof of capability' and a bargaining chip when applying for a new job.  The exams can be taken twice a year, May and November, and the Seattle Chapter provides group study opportunities convenient for those working full time, to help them achieve both of these certifications.

 


Employment Committee

Chairperson: 

Provides employment resources to chapter members.

 


Membership Committee

Headed by a chair person, all chapter members are considered ad hoc members of the recruiting committee. You are our best ambassador among your work colleagues, networking contacts, and people you meet.  Your efforts are backed by an impressive enrollment information package.  Just let the chairman know of anyone you feel would benefit from this information.

 


Newsletter - 'Seattle Pro'

The Seattle Pro is published a minimum of 10 times a year.  Please contact the editor to be added to our e-mail distribution list.

 


Nominating Committee

Chairperson:   Rhonda Carlson rhonda.carlson@mercer.com
Members:  Toni Praudins, Sharon Signorelli
Submits to the membership a slate of candidates for chapter office and prepares such ballot as needed for the election of officers. This committee's duties are prescribed in Article III, Section 3 of the Bylaws.

 


Parliamentary Advisor Committee

             Act as an Advisor to make sure the chapter follows Roberts' Rules of Order, Newly Revised (latest edition).

 


Programs

The program committee shall provide programs for regular chapter meetings and shall introduce the speakers.  If requested, this committee shall assist other committees in planning programs for special functions.


Pursuit of Excellence Committee

The Committee tracks the Chapter's progress on obtaining the IAAP Chapter of Excellence Award.  They, also, encourage chapter members to apply for the IAAP members of Excellence Awards.

 


Public Relations Committee

The Public Relations committee shall publicize through our web site. This committee shall work in conjunction with the program and newsletter committees to provide up-to-date information on the activities of the chapter, including but not limited to promoting the image of the profession. The public relations committee shall be the contact point for incoming information from the web site, and is responsible for passing on any inquiries about membership or speaking invitations to the appropriate officer or committee for action. The committee shall maintain current information files on the association, the chapter, and on business statistics, as well as outlines and copies of speeches given by members. The committee shall arrange for chapter participation in community activities for the purpose of promoting public awareness of IAAP.


Rewards Committee

Chairperson: 

Keeps track of a variety of metrics, (i.e. Did you wear your badge at the chapter meeting?  Are you on a committee?  Have you taken your CPS/CAP exam?) which are used to give members Award Dollars that can be used for discounts at Chapter Meetings or the Holiday Auction.

 


Rules & Bylaws Committee

Chairperson: Karen King

  • Maintains conformity in Chapter Bylaws and Standing Rules with the International and Division Bylaws and Standing Rules.
  • May propose amendments and resolutions
  • Edits/correlates all proposed amendments to the Bylaws and Standing Rules of this Chapter and submits them together with the Committee's recommendations and the reasons for the recommendations to the Board of Directors and the membership in accordance with the Bylaws
  • May submit Chapter Bylaws and Standing Rules and / or amendments thereto to the Division Bylaws and Standing Rules Committee for review
  • Assists the Board of Directors in preparing and submitting amendments/resolutions to the International Bylaws & Standing Rules committee on behalf of the Chapter.

 
Ways & Means Committee

Chairperson for the Holiday Auction –

Chairperson for the Monthly Raffle -

This committee handles the Chapter fund-raising projects for additional operating funds.  We always have some current interesting promotion.  Volunteer and have fun while raising chapter funds.
